Former Interior Cabinet Secretary and Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i has vowed to deliver a government anchored on accountability, transparency, and visible development

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, June 14, 2026, Matiang’i said his camp was ready to take over leadership and ‘fix the country’, accusing the current administration of misleading Kenyans through unclear and unfulfilled promises.

“Tuko tayari kufanya ikazi na tukodiari kurekebisha nchi yetu ya Kenya, na kazi hii tunajua tunaweza kuifanya, na tutaifanya mpaka nchi inyoke kabisa ili nchi yetu iendelee kuwa na imani,” Matiang’i said.

“We are ready to work, and we are determined to fix our country, Kenya. We know this work, and we will do it until the country is completely steady so that it continues to have trust,” he said.

Matiang’i’s pledge

The Kenyan’s 2027 presidential hopeful further pledged that, if elected, his team would form a government that commands respect from citizens through transparency and tangible development projects.

“Tutaunda serikali ambayo inaeshimiwa na wananchi na inaeshimiwa, sio serikali ya kudanganya wananchi,” he said.

“We will form a government that is respected by wananchi, not a government that lies to citizens,” he added.

Matiang’i also criticized what he described as vague policy communication, saying leaders must prioritize clarity and real results over rhetoric.

“Tutaunda serikali ambayo inafanya miradi na mipango inayoonekana wazi kwa wananchi, sio kila wakati ni kudanganya na kusoma mambo ambayo hayaeleweki na mtu,” Matiang’i said.

“We will form a government that implements projects and plans that are clearly visible to citizens, not always lying and reading things that people do not understand,” he said.

Matiang’i’s readiness

Matiang’i has also declared that he and his political allies are ready to take responsibility for national leadership, promising to form a government that restores respect, discipline, and trust in public service.

“Mkumbuke nilikuwa waziri wa elimu na nikakuwa waziri wa usalama… Wananchi sisi tuko tayari. Tumekuja hapa Western kuwambia tuko tayari kufanya hii kazi… Tutaunda serikali ambayo ina heshimu wananchi na inaheshimiwa,” he said.

He said his long experience in the education sector shaped his belief that children must remain at the centre of national policy.

“My heart is very deeply in education. When I see students like this, this is what gives me the greatest pleasure of my life,” he said.
