Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has asked members within the Jubilee Party to consider him ahead of the political outfit’s 2027 presidential candidate nominations.

Speaking in Nakuru County on Friday, October 3, 2025, where he took his continuous voter registration drive, Matiang’i announced his plan for the nationwide tour seeking support within party membership as he seeks to fly the Jubilee Party flag in the 2027 presidential election.

”As I encourage them to register as voters, I also ask them to consider me in the presidential candidate nominations. That is what I can say at the moment, as you can see the work has begun, that is what NDC said last week, and that is what we are doing,” the former CS said.

Matiang’i also added that his Nakuru tour is part of the Jubilee’s strategy of registering new members amid the resumed voter registration in the country heading into the 2027 general election. He also described his meeting with Jubilee leaders at the grassroots in Nakuru as part of the agenda discussed during the Jubilee’s National Delegates Conference held last week at Ngong Race Course in Nairobi, attended by party leader, former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Previously, the former CS stated that he was ready to be a blessing to Kenya and help the country move forward.

Grassroots mobilisation purpose

”On matters Jubilee as a party, it is very important to know that even in politics, we work within structures and frameworks that have been set out in the various institutions we work with. The NDC took place last week, and the party leadership expressed itself very well. A new amended party constitution was approved, and a process of registering new members has begun, which is why I am meeting Jubilee Party grassroots youth mobilisers to begin a drive of registering new members in Jubilee,” Matiang’i said.

”The party has its organs in place; the special NDC was the beginning of that process. Several activities will take place, including recruitment and reorganisation of the party, and then choosing a presidential candidate for the party will happen. That is why I am talking to party members at the grassroots; this is just the beginning because I am going to visit all 47 counties in the country to meet party members. After all, there is a nomination to take place within the party,” Matiang’i added.

Meanwhile, as Fred Matiang’i embarks on wooing party members for the 2027 presidential elections nomination backing, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has linked the claims of former Interior Cabinet Secretary being labelled a project to fear within the opposition.

Speaking during an interview on a local radio station on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the former MP said that the united opposition principals are afraid of Matiang’i due to his influence, which is why they continuously brand him as a project.
