Matiang’i reveals details of his meeting with Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi team
By David Nthua, July 22, 2026Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i has met members of the Linda Mwananchi movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
The meeting was held at Matiang’i’s office in Karen, Nairobi, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
“This morning, I held a productive consultative meeting with the Linda Mwananchi team, led by Nairobi Senator Hon. Edwin Sifuna, at my office in Karen ahead of the team’s tour of Western Kenya,” Matiang’i wrote on X.
Coordination ahead of 2027 election
Matiang’i said the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Linda Mwananchi and the United Alternative Government.
“Our discussions focused on strengthening strategic coordination across the United Alternative Government and aligning our efforts as we continue to offer Kenyans a credible, principled, and people-centred alternative ahead of the 2027 General Election,” he said.
“We remain committed to regular consultations and purposeful engagement as we work together to restore accountable leadership, uphold constitutional governance, and put our country firmly back on the path of national renewal,” Matiang’i added.
Linda Mwananchi will visit Trans Nzoia County on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The movement will proceed to Bungoma County on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Sifuna described the two events as a “double header” while calling on supporters to prepare for the weekend mobilisation.
The Karen talks are the latest engagement between Matiang’i and leaders associated with Linda Mwananchi.
Matiang’i previously held discussions with senior members of the movement as opposition leaders intensified efforts to coordinate their activities before 2027.
Pauline Njoroge leaves Jubilee
The meeting came one day after political communications strategist Pauline Njoroge resigned from the Jubilee Party to concentrate on Linda Mwananchi.
Njoroge resigned as Jubilee Deputy Organising Secretary, a member of the party’s National Executive Committee and an ordinary party member.
She said her resignation ended a 14-year political journey that began when she joined The National Alliance as communications manager in 2012.
“Since February this year, I have had the privilege of being part of the Linda Mwananchi movement,” Njoroge said.
She described the movement as a platform for advancing good governance, constitutionalism, accountability and servant leadership.
Jubilee acknowledged her resignation and thanked her for her service to the party.
Matiang’i’s meeting with Sifuna’s team signals continued coordination between Jubilee and Linda Mwananchi as opposition formations intensify their mobilisation ahead of 2027.
