Matiang’i, Natembeya hold talks amid 2027 political alignments
By Joel Masibo, December 17, 2025Jubilee Party 2027 presidential candidate Fred Matiang’i has held talks with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya amid political alignments heading into the next general election.
Taking to his social media pages on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the former Interior Cabinet Secretary said the two leaders reaffirmed their friendship and strong working relationship within the United Opposition as they continue to pursue their vision to restore good leadership and fix the problems facing Kenya.
Matiang’i meets Natembeya
In a statement, Matiang’i said the two leaders used the meeting to reflect on the challenges facing the country.
”We also reflected on the challenges facing the Kenya Kwanza regime and emphasised the need for accountable leadership and effective management of our country. We further reiterated the need to work together as Opposition leaders to save our country from the economic mess it currently faces,” Matiang’i said.
They were joined by various leaders from the Trans Nzoia County government, the County Assembly, and also from across the political divide. Present at the meeting were the United Opposition head of secretariat, Mukhisa Kituyi and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka.
Commenting on the gathering, Natembeya said it was an opportunity for him and Matiang’i to reflect on their time serving together in the Ministry of Interior.
”It was a warm and engaging meeting that offered us an opportunity to reconnect and reflect on our time serving together at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration. Our discussions centred on our shared vision for a transformed, people-centric Kenya anchored on effective leadership, integrity, and service to the people. It was truly encouraging to rekindle both the memories and the ideals that continue to guide our commitment to public service,” Natembeya said.

Matiang’i pleads with the youth
Meanwhile, ahead of the next general election, Jubilee Party Presidential candidate Fred Matiang’i has challenged the country’s youth to be at the forefront in reshaping the nation’s leadership agenda. Speaking while engaging with young people on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the former CS said the youth must have open and unlimited space to access leaders and engage them on how to get Kenya working again.
