Jubilee Party deputy leader Fred Matiang’i has said he is ready to fix the country and get it out of the crisis should he be given a chance to be the president.

Matiang’i said he knows and understands where the problem lies and is willing to steer the country to greater heights.

Speaking during a Thanksgiving church service at Ack St. Peter’s Cathedral in Kenol, Murang’a South, on Sunday, November 30, 2025, he said the country is headed in the wrong direction due to poor leadership.

“I am ready and willing to fix this country because I know where the problem lies,” he said.

Matiang’i, who served as a cabinet secretary in the previous regime, said he understands all the procedures of the government and can clearly see all the loopholes which have led the country into a ditch.

He, however, said it’s the people who will decide if they will give him the chance during the 2027 election.

“I don’t know if this is the time for me to lead, but I am offering myself to lead the country,” he added.

“If I am given the chance, I promise I won’t fail the people and my country because I want to see it rise to greatness again,” he added.

Matiang’i, who is part of the united opposition, said their sole aim is to ensure the free country the shackles its shackled in.

Onslaught on Ruto

Further, he launched scathing attacks on President William Ruto, who he said is drunk with power and does not consider the interests of the people.

Reacting to the attack unleashed on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in a church in Nairobi, Matiang’i said this was uncalled for, and it’s an attempt to kill democracy in the country.

“This is an independent country and should be treated like a market where everybody is free to sell their produce,” he remarked.

“If you bring rotten produce to the market, you don’t attack those who bring fresh ones because they are getting more customers,” he added.

In addition, he said there is an attempt to divide the country on a tribal basis, terming it a tactic to run away from accountability.

“I have seen a trend that’s picking up, especially on social media, of leaders trying to set up a community against another, and this is just trying to keep people busy to avoid being held accountable,” said Matiang’i.

“Our problem is not tribalism but poor leadership, and this is what we want to address,” he added.

Jeremiah Kioni, the Jubilee Party secretary general, said they have been mandated by their leader, former president Uhuru Kenyatta, to go to every part of the country to sell Matiang’i to the people.

“Uhuru, having worked with Matiang’i, knows him and his capacity as a leader, and he can deliver should he be given a chance,” said
