Masikonde outlines strategy DCP will use to preserve its vote in Emurua Dikirr by-election
Narok Town MCA Douglas Masikonde, who also serves as the Narok County DCP chairman, has unveiled the strategy the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) intends to use to safeguard its votes in the upcoming Emurua Dikirr by-election scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Masikonde said the party will closely monitor the voting process to ensure transparency and fairness. He stated that party agents will track voter turnout at regular intervals and ensure that only valid votes are counted for all candidates.

“In Emurua Dikirr Republic, we shall do whatever it takes to protect your votes. Only genuine votes must be declared for both candidates fairly and transparently. Every three hours, our agents will be notified of the voter turnout and the number of people who have voted so far. Before voting begins, the IEBC biometric system must clearly start at zero,” he said.
Biometric voter system

He added that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) biometric system should begin at zero before voting starts and insisted that voters be properly guided at polling stations to ensure a smooth process, with only one ballot issued per voter.
“Those who do not know how to vote will be guided openly at the polling station, and the clerks must ensure that only one ballot paper is issued to each voter. Our agents will remain very keen on this process,” he added.
Masikonde further expressed confidence that the IEBC is prepared to deliver a free, fair, and credible election, urging supporters to turn out in large numbers and vote peacefully. He also expressed support for the party’s candidate Vincent, saying he deserves victory.
Emurua dikirr byelection preps
On the other side, with only hours remaining before the Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has concluded preparations across all polling stations, assuring voters of a peaceful, free and credible exercise even as security agencies warn against any attempts to disrupt the polls.
According to the IEBC, the by-election will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The commission said all election materials had been distributed to the 94 polling stations within the constituency, which has about 44,000 registered voters.
The race features five candidates vying for the parliamentary seat, which fell vacant following the death of the area member of parliament.
