Malava MP-elect Ndakwa embarks on Thank-You Tour after by-election Win
By Luke Oluoch, November 29, 2025Malava MP-elect David Ndakwa, on Saturday, November 29, 2025, spent the better part of the day meeting and reconnecting with his constituents in a journey that took him through three wards in the constituency that had just come off the bustling phase of by-elections.
Ndakwa’s engagement kicked off with a visit to Nangurunya Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church in East Kabras.
The solemn function saw the former MCA receive the blessings of the clergy, who laid hands upon him for blessings as he bid to officially assume the leadership as the new MP.
Ndakwa garnered 21,564 votes to narrowly edge out Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) candidate Seth Panyako, who got 20,210 votes in the hotly contested Thursday poll.
New MP-elect
He was officially declared the winner on Friday morning by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer Salim Abdallah.
The new MP-elect also joined mourners in two separate burial functions in Chemuche Ward and West Kabras Ward.

He attended a funeral service for the late Eliud Tali in Kimang’eti, in Chemuche ward, before later joining mourners in a similar function in West Kabras ward.
Tali was an army officer who perished in a road accident in Kapenguria.
In his speech during a church service in Nangurunya, Ndakwa acknowledged the task of leadership, urging the residents to support him as he embarks on his new role.
Leadership responsibility
The leader pledged to prioritise an all-inclusive leadership during his tenure as the MP.
“Kupita kura ni rahisi lakini kuongoza watu ndio pahali ambapo pana kazi yenyewe. Naomba maombi yenu ya ujasiri unisaidie. Huu uongozi ni wenu Ni ninyi mmechangia mimi kuwa kiongozi. Sasa mmeniandika kazi vile niliomba, na naomba mniunge mkono na kunisaidia.”
His remarks come after he elected to extend an olive branch to his competitor in the by-election, Seth Panyako, by pleading with President William Ruto to consider the man for a role in government.
Speaking during his homecoming in Malava following his victory on Saturday, November 29, 2025, Ndakwa opined that his competitor deserved a government appointment, despite belonging to the United Opposition Party.
“Nataka kuambia Ruto kuna mwenzangu ambaye tulipambana naye, anaitwa Seth Panyako. Mimi nakuambia umkumbuke umpatie kazi, aishi kama wengine,” Ndakwa said.
Panyako was formerly an allied member of the UDA party until a few months after the general elections. He previously vied for the Malava seat under the UDA ticket and was narrowly defeated by the late Malulu Injendi.
