Malala: Our agenda number one is Ruto being one-term president
By David Nthua, September 30, 2025The Democracy for Citizens’ Party Deputy Leader, Cleophas Malala, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, came out guns blazing to remind Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni that their agenda number one is to remove President William Ruto.
Speaking just days after Jeremiah Kioni claimed that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Ruto were working together, Malala dismissed the remarks as propaganda and accused Kioni of being a mole within the opposition.
Kioni Sparks Controversy
In his earlier statement, Kioni had alleged that Gachagua told them Ruto had already sent emissaries to broker a political arrangement.
According to Kioni, the deal involved Gachagua mobilising seven million votes from the Mt Kenya region, one million votes from Kalonzo Musyoka, and 800,000 votes from Fred Matiang’i.
Elsewhere,women leaders allied to the broad-based government back Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid.
Kioni added that Gachagua claimed this would secure more than half of the national vote, which would then be shared with the Maasai community.
“And he was saying by that time I will have the 7 million votes from the mountain region, 1 million from Kalonzo, and 800,000 from Matiang’i.
“I will now have more than half of the cake, and I will share some of it with the Maasai community. So Joshua you should wait, we will nominate you,” Kioni alleged.

Malala Dismisses Claims
Malala, however, poured cold water on the claims, insisting that Rigathi Gachagua cannot be portrayed as a man working hand in hand with President Ruto.
Apart from Malala, Nakuru DCP Secretary General Sangale also called out over disrespecting Gachagua.
“Does Riggy G look like a person who can sit with Ruto?” Malala posed.
He further said the opposition must stay united and stop spreading confusion.
“To Kioni and others who are being sent to bring chaos to the United Opposition, I want to tell Kioni that if you are truly in the United Opposition and you cannot say Wantam, just know that you are a mole,” Malala declared.
“For us, we are saying that our agenda number one is that Ruto is Wantam. Before someone comes around saying they oppose the government, that person must first say Wantam,” he added.
Malala’s remarks have added a new twist to the growing political exchanges within the opposition ranks as leaders jostle to define their positions ahead of the next polls.
