Malala holds talks with Gachagua ahead of Western tour
By Emmanuel Rono, June 9, 2026Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) Rigathi Gachagua has held a meeting with the deputy party leader, Cleophas Malala, ahead of an anticipated political tour of Western Kenya.
According to a brief statement on his Facebook page on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Malala revealed that they were having a chit-chat with his boss.

“Having a chit-chat with my party leader ahead of the Western tour,” Malala stated.
The Western tour
Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has already unveiled the itinerary of the upcoming Linda Mwananchi rally in Western Kenya, which is set to commence on Friday, June 13, 2026.
Speaking during an interview with a local media station on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the outspoken former defence minister stated that the tour will begin in Luanda, Vihiga County, where the team intends to comb the county before proceeding to Kakamega County, where they will continue spreading the Wantam gospel before making inroads into Busia County, a region largely considered an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) stronghold.

“We will begin in Vihiga, then Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma County, Kiminini, and then the final rally in Kitale town.”
He further stated that the United Alternative Government entourage will then head to Bungoma County, where they intend to traverse the Ken Lusaka-led county, making stopovers in major trading centres before proceeding to Trans Nzoia County.
Dismissal fallout of Malala and Gachagua
The latest meeting comes days after Malala dismissed claims of a political fallout with Rigathi Gachagua, insisting that they remain united within the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leadership despite rising speculation in political circles.

Speaking on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Shivagala area in Ikolomani Constituency, Kakamega County, during the final rites of the late Mzee Boaz Lijoodi, Malala said reports of a disagreement between him and Gachagua were part of a propaganda campaign meant to divide the opposition.
He maintained that he holds no personal or political conflict with the party leader and reaffirmed his position as the deputy party leader of DCP.
“Mimi nimeona hii serikali ya Ruto inajua inaenda nyumbani, leo imesponsor propaganda ati mimi na Rigathi Gachagua tumekosana. Mimi nataka kuwaambia watu ambao wamepeleka hiyo porojo kwamba sisi na Rigathi Gachagua tumeshikana kabisa, hiyo ni porojo. Wanataka kuleta porojo ili watugawanyishe, united opposition isishinde serikali,” he said.
