A section of Ukambani leaders has sent a stern warning to President William Ruto for disrespecting the regional leaders.

Led by Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu and Makueni Speaker Douglas Mbilu on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the politicians warned Ruto that he would be met with an equal barrage of insults if he persisted in disrespecting other leaders by hurling insults at them.

Their remarks come after Ruto faulted the opposition politicians as lacking an agenda and the brains to lead the country.

Insulting others

“Mr. Ruto, if you are truly the president, please respect other leaders. If you don’t respect our leaders, we will also show you the same disrespect. You cannot stand on a podium and use it to hurl insults at other leaders,” she charged.

Kavindu further called to question Ruto’s claims of being a Christian, adding that his utterances were a stark contrast to his assertions.

“It is hard to believe that you are the Christian who professes to worship God. Which God is that you claim to worship?” She added.

Similar sentiments were made by Makueni Speaker Douglas Mbilu, who took issue with Ruto for terming the leaders as lacking intelligence.

“Ruto is saying people have no brains and do not know where they are going. He is the one who is selling the country and running down our education and health sectors. So who is the one who has no brain? He posed.

Mbui attacks Ruto

The leaders’ sentiments come after Kathiani MP Robert Mbui condemned what he described as disrespect toward Ukambani leaders during the president’s recent visit to the region.

“William went to Ukambani and insulted the leaders from that area. He said they have no brain,” Mbui stated.

Mbui also called Ruto out for using cash handouts to attract crowds during political rallies, asserting that as the sole reason for his massive crowds.

“If he is coming with goodies—I am not talking about the roads, footbridges, and transformers he is coming to launch—we are talking about the hard cash he gives people. You go anywhere in this country and say you are dishing out money; tell me who will be left in the house,” he stated
