The announcement comes as the movement steps up public rallies across the country in a bid to popularise its agenda and strengthen support in different regions. Taita Taveta becomes the latest county to host the Linda Mwananchi caravan following recent engagements in Kisumu and Laikipia.

Linda Mwananchi tours disrupted by goons

The announcement of the rallies has come days after the movement’s rallies were marred by chaos and disruption by goons on Sunday, July 12, 2026, with the leaders blaming the state’s use of goons and police to disrupt their gatherings, swearing not to relent in their pursuit to remove William Ruto from the throne in the 2027 general elections.

The Linda Mwananchi crew was forced to flee for safety on Sunday, July 12, 2026, after suspected goons invaded their rally in Nyahururu, Laikipia County.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi and Linda Mwananchi spokesperson Caroli Omondi were among those forced to leave the venue as chaos erupted.

In a separate incident, Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna have accused the state of orchestrating Sunday’s violence at St Stephen’s Cathedral in Kisumu, where members of the Linda Mwananchi movement were confronted by armed youths while attending a church service.

Speaking after the incident on Sunday, July 12, 2026, Orengo claimed the attack was organised and backed by state actors, saying that there was evidence linking senior government officials and local leaders to the violence.

During the chaos, one person was reported dead and another seriously injured while nine motorcycles were torched after rival groups clashed outside St Stephen’s ACK Church.

The Taita Taveta tour is expected to provide the movement with another opportunity to engage directly with residents as political activities continue to gather momentum more than a year before Kenyans head to the polls in 2027.
