Least of my worries: Jalang’o downplays Faith Odhiambo’s speculated Nairobi Senate bid
By Mustafa Juma, June 20, 2026Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has dismissed speculation linking lawyer Faith Odhiambo to the Nairobi Senate race, saying she poses no political threat in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Speaking during an interview with political analyst Herman Manyora on his YouTube channel on the night of Friday, June 19, 2026, Jalang’o said political competition should be judged by experience at the ballot, not public profile or activism.
He argued that his own electoral record places him in a stronger position to compete for Nairobi’s Senate seat compared to individuals yet to contest or win elective office.
Jalang’o downplayed the growing speculation around Odhiambo’s political ambitions, insisting that he is focused on candidates with proven electoral experience.
“You don’t go to any war with fear. You face every war as a man,” he said.
“Faith Odhiambo is the least of my worries. The only person running for Nairobi Senate seat and worth talking about is Jalang’o.”

He questioned the credibility of some of the names being associated with the Nairobi Senate race, arguing that political competition should be grounded in actual electoral history.
“Why are we talking about people who have not even won an MCA seat?” he posed.
Jalang’o defends electoral track record
The Lang’ata MP pointed to his own political journey as evidence of his preparedness for higher office, saying his victory in a competitive constituency demonstrated his ability to win difficult campaigns.
“I have run a campaign and I have won a seat, a tough one, in Lang’ata,” he said.
“If there was any person who has ever run a campaign and won, it would be worth looking at as a challenge.”
Jalang’o suggested that experience at the constituency level should be a key factor in determining seriousness in countywide political contests such as the Nairobi Senate race.
Early Nairobi political contest takes shape
His remarks come amid growing speculation over potential contenders for the Nairobi Senate seat in 2027, as political realignments begin to take shape ahead of the next general election cycle.
Faith Odhiambo, a lawyer and activist, has recently been linked to the Nairobi political scene following increased public visibility and participation in civic and political discussions.

Political speculation surrounding her future ambitions is gathering momentum after she launched a series of grassroots engagements across Nairobi just days after officially joining the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Odhiambo, who has increasingly emerged as a prominent voice within Kenya’s opposition politics, spent her Friday meeting women and residents in various parts of Nairobi, fuelling questions about whether she is positioning herself for an elective seat in the 2027 General Election.
Her latest engagements took her to Mabatini Ward in Mathare and Lucky Summer in Nairobi on Friday, June 19, 2026, where she held discussions with women on challenges facing local communities and the future political direction of the capital.
In a separate engagement in Lucky Summer, she praised residents for their enthusiasm and commitment to shaping the city’s future.
