Kioni warns Ruto on 2027 polls and reveals plan to protect Matiang’i’s votes

Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has warned the Kenya Kwanza administration over plans to rig the 2027 presidential elections.
Speaking in Kisii County on Friday, April 4, 2025, Kioni cautioned President William Ruto, claiming that his recent sentiments point to a scheme to manipulate the polls.
Kioni told the residents that Ruto had been moving around, claiming that it would be difficult to defeat him since he was leading the government.
He, however, reprimanded the head of state, noting that he should not use his office to interfere with independent offices.

“Ruto has been saying that I defeated you while outside the government, and what about now that I am in government? Were you chosen to rig elections?” Kioni posed.
“When you are a president, you do not use institutions to steal votes, you allow institutions to perform the functions they were given by the constitution,” he warned.
Protecting Matiang’i’s votes
While drumming up support for the former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Kioni revealed that Jubilee will use a proactive approach to protect the votes.
Besides deploying agents to all polling stations, Kioni appealed to over seven million Jubilee Party members to come out and protect the votes at each station.
He noted that the party would not hesitate to expose and deal with suspicious characters in 2027.

“This vote cannot be stolen. We must come out as Kenyans to protect the vote. We will have agents, but we must come out and protect the vote,” Kioni insisted.
“If we notice that you are giving a suspicious eye, we will deal with you instantly,” he added.
Nonetheless, he informed the public that Matiang’i was in the process of winding up his activities abroad before returning to the country to popularise his candidature.
He spoke highly of the former CS, affirming that his track record and determination were key to moving the country forward.
