Kioni popularises Matiang’i’s candidature in meeting with Nyamira governor

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has stepped up efforts to popularise former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s presidential bid through high-level discussions with Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo.
Taking to his official X account on Friday, March 21, 2025, Kioni shared details of his meeting with the Nyamira governor, who is also the party leader of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
According to Kioni, their discussions revolved around the national discourse, the state of the nation, and Matiang’i’s leadership as a presidential candidate.
“Early morning deliberations with H.E. @GovernorNyaribo, party leader of UPA and governor of the great county of Nyamira, focused on the national discourse, the state of our nation, and the leadership of our presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i. A timely and critical conversation on the future of our country,” Kioni disclosed.

Matiang’i’s presidential bid
This is not the first time Kioni has strategically worked to solidify Matiang’i’s presence in the political landscape, particularly in his home region. On Friday, March 14, 2025, he intensified Matiang’i’s campaign efforts to further popularise his presidential candidature.
“Yesterday (Friday, March 14, 2025), I joined the great people of Nyamira, proud members of the great Jubilee Party, who came together under one banner to reaffirm their unwavering commitment to true leadership and progressive governance,” Kioni said.
“They declared that a government must be for the people, by the people, and with the people. They further echoed the need for policies that uplift and empower and demanded leadership that listens, acts, and delivers.”

On Thursday, February 20, 2025, the Jubilee Party endorsed Matiang’i as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement, Kioni stated that the decision was arrived at following a consultation with the party’s representatives from across the country.
“These members here have joined others across the country and other leaders of other parties by also saying they want their own presidential candidate as a party,” Kioni stated.
The Jubilee Party has settled on Matiang’i as its candidate for the 2027 presidential race despite the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), which Matiang’i is a member of, also endorsing him as their choice presidential candidate.
“Their voices were loud, their resolve unshaken, and their vision for a better Kenya stronger than ever. Jubilee Party remains the home of the people, standing firm in the fight for dignity, development, and leadership that truly serves,” Kioni remarked.
