Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to national reform, urging a return to ethical leadership and people-centred governance.

Kioni made the remarks on Sunday, November 9, 2025, during a Mass at Karuri Parish in Kiambaa, Kiambu County, where he attended alongside the party’s deputy leader and 2027 presidential candidate, Fred Matiang’i.

In a message shared on X following the service, Kioni stated, “Our mission is clear: to serve, to rebuild, and to rescue our country from the weight of broken promises.” He also quoted Proverbs 29:2, saying, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people mourn,” linking the scripture to the party’s renewed drive for moral leadership.

Faith and political renewal

Kioni emphasised the importance of grounding political leadership in integrity and compassion, saying the country is experiencing growing demands for justice and accountability.

“At a time when our nation yearns for honest leadership, justice, and compassion, Jubilee stands firm in faith and purpose, committed to restoring integrity, dignity, and hope to the Kenyan people,” he said.

Context of party reorganisation

The agenda reaffirmation follows the Jubilee Party’s National Delegates Conference (NDC) held on September 26, 2025, at Ngong Racecourse, chaired by former President Uhuru Kenyatta. The meeting brought together senior party figures, including Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge, Vice Chair David Murathe, Peter Kenneth, former Gatundu North MP Wanjiku Kibe, Kioni and Matiang’i.

The event also saw the attendance of Uhuru’s son, John Jomo Kenyatta, reflecting continued interest from the former president’s family in the party’s future direction.

Uhuru reflects on past gains

Addressing the conference, Uhuru reflected on achievements made during his tenure. He noted infrastructure growth, expanded electricity access, and improvements in maternal health.

“We doubled the number of tarred roads, increased electricity connections to over 70 per cent, removed maternity fees and also saw significant improvements in areas such as Mandera, where C-section operations were performed for the first time since independence.”

However, he expressed concern that “many of the gains we had in the past have been eroded.”

Uhuru emphasised the need to prepare for the 2027 elections and to field strong candidates, adding that Kenya’s youth remain a central force in shaping the nation’s future.
