Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has declared his absolute loyalty to President William Ruto amid ‘yes sir’ critics.

Speaking in Wote, Makueni Constituency, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, during the Economic Empowerment programme, he affirmed his respect for the head of state.

Further, he stated that he respects Kenyans, as they hold the power to elect leaders in the country.

“Some people are calling me ‘yes sir.’  It is true, I am a ‘yes sir’ man. I respect President William Ruto.  I am his deputy.  I respect the president and the citizens of Kenya. Those people calling me this don’t know that. Kenyans are the ones who employ the leaders of any country,” he said.

Kindiki also stated that the government is constructing 15 markets to benefit small-scale traders in the devolved unit.

“15 markets in Makueni County are being constructed, and once completed and operational, they will have all the necessary facilities and amenities, including more trading spaces, cold storage rooms, rooms for lactating mothers, ICT hubs, and social halls,” he stated.

Ruto defends Kindiki

This comes after President Ruto described Kindiki as a knowledgeable, experienced, and competent assistant, following recent attacks by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking during an event in Meru on Monday, May 26, Ruto stated that he currently has an assistant who understands the deputy president’s work.

In particular, he detailed that Kindiki had worked in various government institutions and was supportive of the cabinet secretaries in their work.

“He is someone who is helping me. You have seen him across the country pushing the Kenyan agenda. “I am very proud that I have a deputy who understands government and what we are doing in agriculture,” he stated.

“He understands what we are doing in infrastructure, education, and health, and is supportive of me and the ministers in making sure that work is going forward.”

Ruto also highlighted that Kindiki was unlike his former principal assistant, whom he described as tribal and combative.

Therefore, he called on Kindiki to focus on his work, adding that Gachagua would not succeed.

“He (Kindiki) is not a man of anger and hatred. He is not a tribal man. He knows that he is not a DP for Meru but a DP of Kenya,” Ruto asserted.

“Don’t worry; these people who have a lot of anger and hatred and are tribal will not get anywhere in Kenya.”
