Kasmuel McOure: I have nothing personal against Sifuna
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League leader Kasmuel McOure has dismissed having a personal grudge against Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
This comes a few weeks after he challenged Sifuna to resign from his position as the party’s Secretary-General.

In an interview on Tuesday, October 21, McOure dared Sifuna to step down if he feels ODM no longer aligns with his principles.
“Edwin Sifuna, if you think you are enough of a legislator, if you think you are man enough, and if ODM seems too retrogressive for you, then resign from the mandate that you were given,” he said.
Speaking during an interview on Obinna TV Extra on Monday, November 10, 2025, he stated that his recent remarks were purely issue-based and aimed at strengthening the party’s agenda.
“I don’t have anything personal against Sifuna. First of all, I think he is very brilliant. Every time I have sat with him, I have gotten gems. But then, I am critiquing the office, not the holder of the office,” Kasmuel.
Kasmuel noted that his focus is on ensuring the realisation of key projects championed by the late ODM leader Raila Odinga, including the compensation of victims of protests, which he said must be implemented regardless of political differences.

“I am just trying to ensure that this goes through. Projects that Baba valued, like compensation for victims of protests, we have to find a way for that to work, regardless of the fights. This is part of why I keep saying we need to make this broad-based government thing work,” he explained.
Broad-based government
He added that the push for a broad-based government reflects the party’s true stance and cautioned against individuals who are only now seeking to appear as “firebrands”.
“In all honesty, that’s the party’s true stand. Mtu mwingine yeyote anajaribu kujionyesha saa hizi, alikuwa wapi three months ago? Kuna watu wengine wa chama wamejitokeza saa hii wenye wanataka kujifanya wao ni firebrands. Before then, kwanini hawakuoppose broad-based government?” he posed.
Kasmuel further warned against attempts by some leaders to enjoy political privileges associated with Raila’s legacy without upholding his vision or commitment to the people.
“It will be such a dishonour for you to want to get Baba’s perks without putting in the work that Baba did, and then you want to scupper the arrangement he did for his people. Watu waache siasa na wafanyie wananchi kazi,” he said.
