Kasmuel explains why Ruto’s second-term victory remains certain

By , December 19, 2025

Kasmuel McOure, a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth League, has expressed optimism that President William Ruto will secure a second term in office, citing growing public confidence in his leadership

Speaking to a local TV station on Friday, December 19, 2025, Kasmuel stated that Ruto can now appear publicly, which, according to him, is a sign of regaining the popularity and acceptance he had not enjoyed for some time

“We know that Ruto will become president again, not by rigging, as some want us to believe. Remember, a while back, Ruto could not even go out to the public and hold rallies freely in certain areas. Yesterday, he mobilised a political rally at night in Nairobi. He has gone to Central [Kenya], where he would never have been welcomed before, and now people are shouting ‘two terms,'” he said

“Remember, the president only has to be voted in by a simple majority of those who feel that this is good governance, and they give you the votes,” he stated.

Kasmuel, who recently vowed to lead engagements with the broad-based government on youth affairs, has stated that such a probability must inform people’s political decisions.

“If the current political trends hold and things stand as they are, he will become president again,” he asserted.

“With that realisation, I have to ask myself as a young person: how will I participate in the change of my country if this is the change the population chooses? People are afraid of saying this, but we have to be open to the fact that we must admit that, in the political formation, the side with more clarity of thought and that is more organised is the one that will clinch victory and form government,” he added.

McOure’s remarks come days after he proposed engaging in a sober, well-negotiated pre-election agreement with President Ruto while simultaneously reinvigorating ODM’s grassroots machinery as the best route forward for the broad-based arrangement.

“The path forward is decisiveness. We strengthen ODM by engaging in a sober, well-negotiated pre-election agreement with President Ruto, while simultaneously reinvigorating our grassroots machinery and sustaining the aggressive mobilisation that defines our political DNA. That is how serious parties mature into governing forces.” Kasmuel said.
