People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has said that President Ruto has no plans to exit government and has a plan to extend his term beyond the ten years set by the constitution.

Speaking to Kameme TV station on Monday, February 2, 2026, Karua has accused President Ruto of orchestrating a plan to extend the limit to 15 years. She has also pointed out Ruto’s plan to run the country in a dictatorial manner.

“The other day, while speaking, Ruto said that the most developed countries in Africa are ruled by a dictator. So, he wants to insinuate that if he does not become a dictator, the country will not develop. He said he has a plan for Kenya to be like Singapore, meaning he has no plans to exit government. Our unity will make us remove Ruto from power, and we shall remove him forcefully,” Karua said.

Karua has called on the public to remain united to remove Ruto from office in the forthcoming general elections. She has called on Kenyans to register as voters and ensure they come out in large numbers and vote out Ruto’s government, saying that this is the only way to prevent vote rigging during the 2027 elections.

The PLP party leader has added that Kenyans should not hail praises on failed leaders who have caused the economy of the country to flop, caused a rise in unemployment, and looted public funds. She has called on the church to avoid blessing corrupt leaders and should instead call them out. Karua has urged the church to pray against corrupt leaders, urging the public to look out for leaders with integrity as the country heads to the elections.

Karua has accused Ruto of using a police killer squad to hunt the united opposition leaders. She has said that the National Police Service should remain independent in maintaining law and order. The former MP has now called on the Inspector General of Police to be impartial and not to take misleading orders.
