Karua censures Ruto for violating the constitution after trading barbs with opposition
People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has called out President William Ruto following his recent remarks against opposition leaders.
In a post on her official X account on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Karua slammed Ruto, accusing him of violating Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
“This is vulgar, @WilliamsRuto, unbecoming of your office and a violation of Chapter Six on leadership and integrity,” Karua said.

Karua’s sentiments came in response to William Ruto’s attack on DAP-K Party leader Eugene Wamalwa.
Ruto’s remarks to Wamalwa
Speaking in Malava on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, President William Ruto went all out on the Opposition leader Eugene Wamalwa, claiming that he has no capacity to lead Kenya.
While supporting his remarks, Ruto said the reasons Wamalwa could not lead the country are linked to the inheritance he got from his late brother, Kijana Wamalwa.

Ruto fires at Opposition leaders
At the same time, Ruto escalated his war of words with Rigathi Gachagua and other opposition leaders.
Picking up from where he left off after addressing a series of roadside rallies, Ruto mocked opposition leaders opposed to the government’s housing programme as clueless politicians with no brains as he launched the Boma Yangu Milimani Kakamega Estate – Phase I.
“Alafu mnasikia wale watu wa akili kidogo wanasema watakuja kisimamisha hii mradi ya manyumba. Wale ni mafala sana, akili hawana wako chini, wako chini sana. Mtu anasema anakuja kusimamisha hii project kama hiyo kichwa yake ni mzuri? Ni fala si fala huyo? Ruto posed.
