Kaluma says broad-based govt will last until 2032
Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has declared that the broad-based government between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President William Ruto is unstoppable and will remain in place until 2032.
In a statement posted on his X account on Saturday, August 16, 2025, Kaluma expressed confidence in the longevity of the current political arrangement, insisting that the model reflects the will of Kenyans.
“Broad-Based Government is unstoppable – until 3032!” Kaluma asserted in his post.

Inclusivity in govt
The MP attributed the broad-based government’s enduring nature to the fundamental desire among Kenyans for equitable representation and fair treatment across all communities.
He suggested that the current political configuration addresses these national aspirations.
“All Kenyans crave inclusion, equity and equal treatment in their motherland,” Kaluma stated.
No turning back
His remarks come a day after Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced that ODM is firmly committed to the broad-based government under President William Ruto, saying there is no turning back.
Speaking on Friday, August 15, 2025, Mbadi emphasised that his current role as Treasury CS did not influence his decision, but rather Ruto’s commitment to inclusivity and his efforts to build relationships with all communities in Kenya.
“We expected to secure the State House; Raila had the key to it, and we were confident we could take it. I was surprised when I brought the key to you at Kasarani,” Mbadi recalled.

“Now you have the key in your hands. What I am saying in a nutshell is that President William Ruto has demonstrated a different kind of friendship than his predecessors. We are here to stay! We are in a broad-based government for the long haul. I am not saying this just because I am the CS for finance; I say this because I’ve seen how you relate to all communities in Kenya,” Mbadi added.
