Wiper Patriotic Front Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has called out President William Ruto’s government for intimidating Kenyans and abducting political opponents, warning that such actions undermine the Constitution and democratic freedoms.

In a statement shared on X on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, Kalonzo said President Ruto is ruling by fear and abducting political opponents.

“This Ruto regime attempts to rule by fear. That’s why we call it as it is: Ruto-Poorism!” Kalonzo said.

He further highlighted that expression of opinion is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution, insisting that the government cannot treat lawful dissent as a crime.

“He believes he can intimidate Kenyans with impunity, abducting citizens and political opponents like Mheshimiwa Anthony Kibagendi, transporting them across the country, and charging them at police stations far from where their alleged crimes were committed. This is not justice. It is persecution by geography,” he added.

Democratic principles

Kalonzo urged the government to respect democratic principles, stressing that accountability, transparency, and the rule of law must guide governance.

“Expression of opinion is not a crime. It is a Constitutional right, not a favour from the State or you!” he said.

He also called on President Ruto to stop the use of intimidation and respect the rights of citizens, asserting that no amount of coercion could silence the people’s voice.

“We demand accountability, transparency, and respect for the law. And we say: Enough is enough. Man up, William Ruto,'” Kalonzo emphasised.

The Wiper leader reminded the government that the Constitution of Kenya 2010 is the supreme law of the land, which the President swore to uphold, protect, and defend.

“Read the Constitution of Kenya 2010, bwana! You may recall

that document you swore to uphold, protect and defend? For your information, it is the supreme law of this land, and no amount of intimidation will silence the People’s voice,” Kalonzo stated.
