Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced that opposition leaders are preparing to unveil a new coalition aimed at unseating President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.

Speaking during his homecoming event on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at his Muuna home in Tseikuru, Kitui County, Kalonzo stated that the coalition’s name and leadership would be revealed soon.

He emphasised that their teams are actively working on the coalition’s formation and that they would soon announce its name and leadership. Kalonzo also dismissed comparisons to past alliances, such as the one formed in 2002, indicating that the forthcoming coalition represents a new and distinct political movement.

The former vice president further reaffirmed the opposition’s commitment to ensuring Ruto serves only one term.

“We have the commitment. We shall not relent, neither shall we surrender in making sure that William Ruto is a one-term president and that corruption ends. We have our teams working, and very soon we are going to announce the name and the formation of our winning coalition. Leave alone that one for 2002, “Kalonzo announced.

Kalonzo on future govt

In addition, Kalonzo issued executive orders emphasising that, if elected, the new coalition would repeal the Housing Levy and focus on improving the education system by restoring adequate funding to the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to ensure university students receive the necessary financial support.

“Executive order number one tukichukua serikali ni kurudisha helb watoto wa university wasome, executive order number two tumesema pamoja na wenzangu hawea ya kwamba ushuru wa Ruto, housing levy tax nyumbani , kila mwenye payslip,” Kalonzo stated.

Kalonzo’s executive orders remarks come days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua pledged that the government he and his allies hope to form in 2027 will put an end to what he described as the over-taxation of workers’ payslips.

Speaking after a church service at Full Gospel Church Magomano in Kiambu County on Sunday, May 11, 2025, Gachagua said employees in both the public and private sectors have been subjected to excessive deductions that have significantly reduced their purchasing power.

He emphasised that the first responsibility of the government they plan to establish will be to restore the dignity of the payslip by stopping unnecessary deductions and giving workers the respect they deserve.

Mambo ya payslip wale wafanyikazi wote amboa wako hapa private sector public sector payslip yao imekuwa raided, their purchasing power has been eroded, na ndio tunasema serikali tunayo taka kuunda our first responsibility is to restore the dignity of the payslip hao wafanyikazi wapate heshima yao by not raiding their payslip,’ Gachagua said.
