Kabando wa Kabando lashes out at Ruto, says Nyeri forums show voters are against him
By Kiprono Keileb, January 18, 2026Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando has strongly criticised President William Ruto, saying that his forums in the region indicate that voters are not aligned with the president.
He claimed that campaign handouts and other incentives are failing to sway the electorate.
In a statement shared on X on Sunday, January 18, 2026, Kabando wa Kabando highlighted the low support for Ruto in the region, referencing past election results.

“President William Ruto, it’s not rocket science to discern that attendees of Nyeri ‘UDA’ forums are not with you. Cash handouts, bags of stale beans, ngotering wanabodas or pecking mama mbogas won’t reverse the tide. Your habitual shameless lies, chronic thieveries, abductions, and extrajudicial killings demonically score you,” he wrote.
Kabando said Ruto surpassed the target in the 2022 election in Mt Kenya; he went on to claim that it will not be the same in the 2027 elections.
“2022, you surpassed a predicted 75% Mlima vote, reaching 83% via hypotony and deception. 2027 bet is max 5%. Those Sh5000 brown envelopes you’re throwing at our suffering people won’t even procure you poll agents. It’s this bad. Believe you us, 95% of participants in your parleys here are ‘Wantam’ adherents,” he wrote.

Kabando wa Kabando accused him of being disconnected from the county’s pressing social and security challenges. He went ahead to condemn his recent visit, saying it ignored the ongoing rise in youth suicides, violent crime, and gang activity, while contrasting it with the cherished legacy of former President Mwai Kibaki.
“We of Nyeri so truly treasure President Mwai Kibaki’s legacy, which you’ve desecrated. To rescue Kenya, Ruto, you’re out of touch with reality. You visit Nyeri when we’re daily losing youths to suicide. Past month alone, Mukurweini has buried several. The crime rate is at its worst. Gangs wreaking havoc – killings, escalating insecurity.”
Kabando attacked President Ruto, calling him out for failing to address the rising drug abuse among youth and neglecting his constitutional responsibilities. He criticised the President’s inaction, describing it as harmful to the nation and dismissive of cultural and regional concerns in Mount Kenya.

“Illicit drugs are turning youngsters into zombies. As C-i-C, a consumer of raw intelligence, you’re catastrophic to constitutional presidential duties! No see. No word. No action. Only haranguing. Only megalomania. Only snoring at State Lodge, ignoring even sacred spirits percolating from Mount Kenya just feet away! For being a monstrous failure.” Kabando wa Kabando
He further criticised the president for failing to address pressing social issues, particularly the growing drug menace and youth suicides in Nyeri.

“For all the days you’ve been loitering around campaigning for ‘Tutam,’ you uttered not a single word about the disaster of illegal substances within this county and region. What you only see are votes to renew and perpetuate your looting, murderous kakistocracy. Nyeri is littered with graveyards of young people who continue committing suicide, due to mental illnesses caused by desperation. If you think you’ll mesmerise voters here again, woe unto you. For being a sadist,” Kabando wa Kabando said.
