Jubilee secretary general details why Maa region is firmly in opposition

By , April 12, 2026

Jubilee Secretary General Montalel Ole Kenta has come out to announce that the Maa region is firmly in the United Opposition.

While speaking during a church service in Ildamat, Kajiado North, where United Opposition leaders attended a church function on Sunday, April 12, 2026, he explained that the region has nothing to show for being part of the current government.

He added that there is nothing meaningful the present regime has done for the Maa region and claimed that it has instead committed many atrocities against the people of the region by taking away their land and leaving them with nothing, which is why they have strongly embraced the opposition.

Seki Lenku assures Gachagua of support

This comes days after Kajiado Senator Seki Lenku assured former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of full support from the Maa community ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The senator dismissed claims that the former DP only enjoys the backing of two MPs from the Maa region.

He said.

Senator Seki noted that the Maa people from across the country, not just in Narok and Kajiado, are firmly behind Gachagua and his Democratic Citizens Party (DCP).

He assured Gachagua that the region is ready to walk with him on his political journey to 2027.

State intimidation

He further claimed that the absence of some Maa leaders, particularly governors, from Gachagua’s camp is due to intimidation from the government. According to him, were it not for state pressure, several MPs from Narok would have already aligned themselves with Gachagua’s cause.

The senator went on to project that the DCP will secure five parliamentary seats and at least 25 MCA positions in the next election within the Maa region.

He also revealed that his decision to vote against Gachagua’s impeachment in the Senate was informed by the overwhelming support the former DP enjoys on the ground. He said it would have been a betrayal to go against the will of the people who entrusted him with leadership.
