Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro claims that the Jubilee regime turned to the worst government for the Mt Kenya region after President Uhuru Kenyatta entered a political truce with his erstwhile opponent in the 2017 elections, Raila Odinga.

According to the Ruto-allied lawmaker, the Central Kenya region, that was Uhuru’s bedrock in the 2017 polls, has not received enough perks that are commensurate with the level of support they gave Uhuru in his bid for re-election.

“Jubilee government after the handshake has been the worst regime for the people of Mount Kenya. The people of Mount Kenya measure the success of a regime is by the tangibles,” he said.

The legislator further stated that Uhuru’s regime has only benefitted businessmen that deal directly with the government. Nyoro, who was speaking in a TV debate on K24, further compared the current regime with Kibaki’s tenure, stating that the latter’s government empowered the downtrodden unlike Uhuru’s government that has left them impoverished.

“The only people making money in this regime are those working directly with the government. This regime has made the billionaires in Kibaki’s time to be impoverished,” he added.

Former Deputy Speaker at the National Assembly, Farah Maalim, who was also a panelist at the debate, rubbished Nyoro’s claims saying that the Central region is better placed in terms of infrastructural development compared to other regions. Maalim sought to debunk Nyoro’s claims that the Jubilee regime has marginalized the vote-rich region.

“You can talk about not less than 30 to 40 roads that have been done in mount Kenya region in the last 8 years but you cannot talk of even one in North Eastern province as well as many other regions in Kenya,” Maalim avered.
