Itumbi predicts landlside win for UDA in Mbeere North by-election

By , November 17, 2025

Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy Coordination Dennis Itumbi has predicted a landslide win for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the forthcoming Mbeere North by-election for the Member of Parliament (MP) seat on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Itumbi’s declaration comes at a moment when political temperatures in areas marked for the beckoning by-election have risen, as political parties drum up support for their candidates in different elective positions.

Hot contest in Mbeere North

The UDA party has fronted Leo wa Muthende, who will face off with Democratic Party’s (DP) flag bearer Newton Karish as his closest challenger in the quest to represent the residents of Mbeere North Constituency in the National Assembly.

However, Dennis Itumbi remains bullish about UDA rising above DP, overcoming the challenges and clinching the seat. Itumbi has argued that the United Opposition, comprising former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and other political outfits within the fold, has no say in Mbeere North heading into the by-election.

Itumbi has also added that UDA will also win the Malava MP seat unopposed. ”Mbeere North is a no-go zone for Gachagua’s party. It’s a landslide win for UDA, so as to Malava!” Dennis Itumbi took to X on Monday, November 17, 2025, a day after the opposition stormed Embu Town, drumming up support for Newton Karish.

His remarks come shortly after former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi also predicted victory for DP’s Newton Karish in the Mbeere North Constituency MP by-election later in November.

Karish to deliver the seat

Speaking in Embu Town on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Muturi was amazed by the massive crowds that turned up for the campaign in search of votes for Karish, revealing that the huge crowd was an indication that victory is on the horizon.

”Our people have made it clear, they are ready to take back their voice, their dignity, and their future. As a son of this soil, I have never seen Mbeere North this bold, this united, this determined,” Justin Muturi took to X on Sunday.

Earlier, the opposition accused UDA of using state machinery to intimidate Newton Karish and his followers heading into the democratic exercise. In the change of tune, Justin Muturi has also confirmed that Mbeere North residents have risen above the said intimidations and their support for Karish is unwavering.
