A section of civil society organisations have raised the red flag over what they termed as increased cases of hate speech.  The groups — under the banner of Integrity Watch — urged Azimio leader Raila Odinga to desist from issuing inflammatory remarks during his anti-government rallies.

“ We would like to express our deep concern at the recurrence of hate speech by a section of political leaders in gatherings dubbed ‘Citizen Barazas’. We are alarmed that they may rekindle political and social tensions,” said group member Fredrick Jowi (below).  He told the Azimio leadership to look for better ways of criticising the current administration and to respect established institutions such as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

At the same time, the group urged the government to address the many issues affecting the country, especially the high cost of living.
