Business magnate Grita Muthoni has on Sunday, March 20. 2022 thrust herself in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta. Grita launched her presidential bid at Nairobi’s Serena Hotel.

By declaring her interest in the presidency, Muthoni becomes the first female aspirant to show interest in the forthcoming August presidential elections.

Muthoni, who will be running on a Ford-Asili ticket, stated that her administration will seek to include women and the youth in its decision-making processes.

“This is your nation. You’re not refugees, it is your nation you’re free and you should make decisions which will touch your children until fifty years to come,” she said.

The presidential hopeful challenged the electorate to make informed decisions as far as the presidential race is concerned. She stated that the decisions made by the electorate at the ballot will directly impact their lives and that of their dependants.

“What you do today will affect your great-grandchildren. Please wake up because it is not business as usual when the time comes for you to be delivered, it could be the most unlikely candidate,” Grita added.

Muthoni further stated that her government will come up with policies that will spur economic growth and provide a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

Her entry into the presidential contest pits her against Deputy President William Ruto, ODM leader Raila Odinga, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi among others.
