Gachoka predicts unveiling of new Sifuna-Natembeya-led party
By Mabonga Makhanu, July 8, 2026KANU spokesperson Tony Gachoka has claimed that a new political party associated with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has already been formed and will be unveiled in the coming days.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the outspoken political analyst said the outfit is expected to serve as the political vehicle through which leaders from the Western Kenya region will rally behind the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.

“This month there is critical meeting in Western Province starting from Kitale, led by Natembeya. The Tawe movement is going to convert itself into a political party. That party already has Jack Wamboka Kalasinga; the party will consolidate all the Bukusu votes.”
According to Gachoka, the new party will be a transformation of the Tawe Movement, which has so far served as Governor Natembeya’s political slogan, into a fully fledged political party.
He further argued that the party’s main objective will be to consolidate the Western Kenya vote, particularly the Bukusu vote, which he claimed accounts for nearly 50 per cent of the region’s voting population.
Gachoka maintained that the formation of the party is part of broader efforts by opposition leaders to strengthen their political footing in Western Kenya and present a united front in the run-up to the 2027 general election.
Natembeya Sifuna Kitale meeting
The development comes after a meeting that lasted more than 10 hours, during which Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya hosted Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other Linda Mwananchi leaders from Western Kenya at his Kitale residence.

Following the meeting, Natembeya declared that he would fully back Sifuna’s presidential ambitions and lead campaigns for him across the Western Kenya region. He said he would traverse all 38 constituencies in the Mulembe region to mobilise support for Sifuna as he tours the country in search of nationwide backing ahead of the 2027 general election.
The governor also revealed that a new political party will soon be unveiled to serve as the region’s political vehicle in support of Sifuna’s presidential bid.
Sifuna’s homecoming
The announcement comes ahead of Sifuna’s grand homecoming ceremony scheduled for July 26 in Bungoma County. The event will be preceded by a major Linda Mwananchi rally in Kitale Town on July 25, which will be hosted by Natembeya.
Natembeya urged residents from across the Mulembe region to turn out in large numbers for the two events, saying they will mark the beginning of the region’s push to rally behind “their son” as he embarks on his nationwide campaign for the presidency.
