Democracy For Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has unveiled a new candidate for the upcoming by-elections in Magarini.

Speaking on October 3, 2025, Gachagua expressed confidence that the former Kilifi County Assembly Deputy Speaker will triumph over their rivals in the coming mini-polls scheduled for November 27, 2025.

“Today, we want to unveil our candidate in DPC who will win the seat. He is Stanley Karisa Kenga. He is the guy who won the last election, and the courts confirmed it. The people of Magarani will once again confirm him as the MP,” he stated.

He urged the people of Magarini to rally behind the party’s choice and deliver the win for the newfound party.

“We call the people of Magarini to give him a chance to return to leading the region,” he stated.

Kenga, who contested the seat in 2022 on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket, challenged the poll’s outcome after losing to Harrson Kombe.

Close race

He secured 11,925 votes, while Kombe obtained 11,946 votes, resulting in a narrow margin of only 21 votes between the two candidates.

While accepting his candidacy, Karisa rallied the constituents of the coastal region to ensure the party carries the dat in the polls

“We are going back home, determined to bring this seat to DCP. I want to urge everybody to get to work and unite so that we bring this seat to DCP,” he said in his acceptance speech.

Karisa becomes the party’s new aspirant after Furaha Chengo withdrew from the Gachagua-led party, citing frustrations from senior party officials.

He will battle it out against ODM’sHarrisonn Kombe, who earned a direct party ticket from the Raila Odinga-led party.
