Gachagua hosts former Nairobi MCAs and Councillors for strategic discussions

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday afternoon, February 20, 2025, hosted former Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and Councillors from Nairobi County at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri County.
In a statement shared via his official X account, Gachagua disclosed that their discussions centred on the significant changes that have taken place since their time in office, the lessons they have learned along the way, and the opportunities these insights present for his emerging team.
In addition, the second deputy president added that they also explored the unique dynamics of Nairobi, identifying key areas for engagement and strategies to drive the positive change they envision.
The second deputy president further noted that the consultations will continue as he prepares for political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

“This afternoon at our Wamunyoro residence, I met slightly over 80 former MCAs and Councillors from across Nairobi County. We discussed the changes that have come into play since their days in office, the lessons they have learnt along the way, and the opportunities these changes and lessons present to our emerging team.
“We also discussed the dynamics of Nairobi and where and how to engage, to affect the positive change we envision. The consultations continue,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua’s meeting with Kalonzo and Wamalwa
The meeting comes a day after Gachagua met with the Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and his Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) counterpart Eugene Wamalwa on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Kalonzo, in a statement shared via his official X account, stated that the trio had met for a cup of tea.
However, he noted that they had compared notes and shared their thoughts about the current political situation in the country, region, and continent.

“I enjoyed a cup of Kenyan tea with my friends, Second Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya @rigathi and @DAP_Kenya Party Leader @EugeneLWamalwa, in Nairobi earlier today. Together we compared notes and shared our thoughts about the current political situation in the country, region, and continent,” Kalonzo stated.
Gachagua’s political game
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, during a joint media interview, Gachagua declared that he would be unveiling the name of his newly formed political party in May 2025.
“Our party is ready. It is in the showroom, the engine is brand new, the tyres are Michelin, and the driver is Gachagua he won’t steer it off course. People are eager to know the name. The fifth month is when we will make the big reveal.
“We will begin opening branches, transitioning people from UDA, and firmly rooting them in our new home. We want all other communities to join us—we are offering them seats at the table. We have already allocated positions to some, and for those yet to be accommodated, this is their chance to come on board,” he said.
