Gachagua extends DCP roots to UK, officially launches diaspora chapter

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched the Diaspora chapter of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) in the United Kingdom.

According to Gachagua, the DCP diaspora chapter will act as a link for Kenyans living in the UK as the newly unveiled outfit continues to advocate for economic liberation and bring President William Ruto’s reign to an end.

In a statement following a meeting with Kenyans living and working in the UK on Sunday, May 17, 2026, Gachagua said the launch was preceded by discussions centred on the political and economic situation in Kenya and the role the diaspora can play in advocating for reforms.

He urged Kenyans abroad to remain actively engaged in the country’s affairs.

“It was an honor to launch the UK Diaspora DCP Chapter, which will serve as a vital link for Kenyans in the UK as we strengthen our efforts to liberate our country,” Gachagua stated.

Concerns of Kenyans abroad

The former DP said Kenyans in the UK expressed concern over what they termed as growing corruption, abuse of the rule of law, and weak policies affecting key sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and social security.

“I encouraged them to continue monitoring the situation at home and to keep advocating for change as they stay connected with Kenyans back home and across the world,” Gachagua said.

Gachagua assured the diaspora community that the DCP party remains committed to what he described as restoring a better Kenya where citizens’ voices are respected and development issues are addressed honestly.

“I assured them of our commitment to bringing back a better Kenya, a nation where every Kenyan’s voice matters and where development issues are no longer concealed by lies or political deception,” he added.

Gachagua’s diaspora visit

The DCP party leader had earlier explained that the trip is set to promote the Democracy for Citizens Party in the diaspora.

He went on to add that the Party’s philosophy aligns closely with the values and aspirations of the diaspora community.

“During my time in London, I will also have the opportunity to promote our party, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), which is currently the party of the moment. Our party’s philosophy aligns closely with the values and aspirations of the diaspora community, and I look forward to sharing our vision with them,” Gachagua explained.
