The Democracy for Citizens (DCP) party, Rigathi Gachagua, has congratulated Sammy Kamau Ngotho after he won the DCP nominations to become the party’s parliamentary candidate in the upcoming Ol Kalou by-election.

In a statement shared on his official X account on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Gachagua said the party was confident of victory in the July 16, 2026, by-election and urged the candidate to remain close to the people.

The former deputy president said the party leadership had faith in both the candidate and the residents of Ol Kalou, expressing optimism that DCP would emerge victorious in the by-election polls.

Gachagua praised residents who turned up to participate in the party primaries, saying the exercise reflected democratic values and the people’s desire to choose their preferred leader.

“Our Party, DCP, has faith in you and the people of Olkalou that we shall get a win in the July 16, 2026, by-elections. As we hand you the party certificate today, engage the people of Olkalou and listen to them.on how they wish to be led. This is as articulated in our party philosophy,” Gachagua stated.

“I salute the people of Olkalou for coming out to vote during the party primaries and choosing the leader they want to carry the flag of their party.”

This came after a successful nomination, which, according to the deputy party leader, has been admired by everyone, including the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
