Democratic Action Party – Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has joined the ongoing discourse on uniting the Mulembe Nation in preparation for the 2027 general election.

In a statement on Thursday evening, February 6, 2025, Wamalwa thanked Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua for their encouraging message to the Mulembe Nation.

According to Wamalwa, the journey to liberate the Western Region has started.

“Thank you my brothers @skmusyoka and @rigathi for your goodwill messages to the Mulembe Nation. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step,” he wrote on his official X account.

Kalonzo on Western politics

The Wiper party boss on February 6, 2025, disclosed that the Western region is in good hands under the leadership of Wamalwa.

Speaking during an interview with the Western vernacular stations, Kalonzo noted that he is confident that Wamalwa and his party will liberate the Western Region.

“Jina Wamalwa ni jina ambalo lina uhusiano mkubwa sana kumbuka historia Masinde Muliro,Kijana Wamalwa wale wapiganiaji wa uhuru na haki za wakenya ambayo wanatoka eneo la Western, mimi najua ya kwamba Eugene amejikakamua na ako sawa kabisa juzi mumeona amelaunch head quarters mpya ya chama cha DAP-Kenya na sote tulikuwa pale na tukaona kweli yeye amejianda naibu wake ni gavana wa Trans Nzoia George Natembea na najua kwamba wako tayari kabisa.

“So sioni pengo lolote na mimi najua kwamba wenza ambao wako kule Western wako sawa,”Kalonzo said.

Gachagua on Mulembe Nation

Speaking during an interview with Western Kenya vernacular radio stations on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, Gachagua urged the Mulembe Nation to relook its voting trends.

He stated that Western is a vote-rich block, but their votes do not help the Mulembe Nation in any way.

The former deputy president further noted that the region has a chance of producing the country’s president, but their voting trend has always divided the votes.

According to Gachagua, should the region unite and vote for one of their own as a block it has a chance of producing Kenya’s president.

“Mulembe Nation inaeza kupata nafasi ya kuchukua ufalme wa Kenya lakini itategemea vile mulembe itajipanga kwa sababu hii urais ya Kenya huwezi chukua tu namna hivyo. Muungane, muongee sauti moja, kwa sababu hapo mbeleni mnapiganga kura mara tatu. Kura yenu haisaidii Mulembe Nation, kwa sababu mnagawagawa. Wengine wanapatia Raila Odinga, wengine wanapeana kwa Musalia na wengine wanapeana huko. Inakuwa haina maana,” Gachagua argued.
