Embu Senator blames Gachagua for orchestrating his impeachment
By Luke Oluoch, November 19, 2025Embu Senator Alexander Mundigi has sharply criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, branding him unfit for future leadership roles following his impeachment.
Speaking in Mbeere North on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Mundigi denied spearheading Gachagua’s impeachment, stressing that the politician was a victim of his own circumstances.
Impeached
“I want to refute assertions that Ruto and I are the ones who impeached him. There are many senators in the National Assembly. We tried to get him to order, but we were unable. He was ultimately impeached for insistence on a wrong course,” he added.
Mundigi affirmed that following Gachagua’s ouster, he stands unfit for any leadership role.
“The law says when impeached, you have to remain at home. You are not fit even for a role to oversee a cattle dip; the only seat he can get is that in a church as we all seek to make it to heaven,” he stated.

Mundigi’s sentiments come moments after nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda slammed a section of opposition-allied politicians for refusing to move on from the impeachment of Gachagua.
In an interview on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, Mutinda observed that the people had moved on from the issue and were now focused on other issues of more significance.
Gachagua’s ouster
She lamented that the constant reference to the issue only demonstrated the underlying bitterness and anger within the team.
“When we keep repeating this issue of impeachment for a long time, it shows we have not moved on. We are doing by-elections today across 23 by-elections, and I am wondering why we are still having to dwell on an impeachment that took place over a year ago,” she said.
“It shows that up to date, we have people who are still bitter, agitated, and still angry. People have moved on: we are now engaged in a different conversation on this particular by-election and nothing more than that,” she added.
