Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has made an overture to Kajiado Senator Seki Lenku, urging the politician to align with the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking in Kajiado County on Saturday, November 8, 2025, during the 3rd Maa Cultural Festival, Duale implored Seki to reconsider his political affiliations and side with the team he opined would form the next government.

“To my brother, the Kajiado senator, this is your home, and this is where you belong. He is my friend, and he has seen it with his eyes. He needs to understand this is where the next government will be,” he told him.

Senator Seki has established himself as an ally of the former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, and his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), and, on one occasion, even led a delegation from the Maa community, particularly Kajiado County, to Gachagua’s Wamunyoro home and assured Gachagua of Maa support.

He has since emerged as the party’s point man in the region.

The senator, while leading a delegation to Gachagua’s Wamunyoro residence on Monday, June 23, 2023, refuted assertions that Gachagua and his DCP party lacked meaningful support in the Maa region.

“Tunakupatia uhakika ya kwamba Wamaasai wanasimama na wewe katika Jamhuri ya Kenya, katika kila mahali; wale wengine wako kwa sababu ya lazima; kwa mfano, ma governors wakijaribu kuongea, wanaambiwa ngoja utatuona.”

Presidential aspirant Fred Matiang’i also recently met the Kajiado senator as part of his ongoing engagements as he eyes the 2027 presidential seat.

Seki commends Ruto

Speaking at the event, Seki thanked President William Ruto for returning Amboseli Park to the hands of Kajiado County government and the Maa community, terming the gesture as historic for the pastoralist community.

“On behalf of the people of Kajiado, whom I represent, I want to sincerely thank you. This is a historic day in our country since our independence. You have fulfilled the promise you made to us, and we are thankful,” he stated.
