David Maraga faults govt for exporting human labour
Former Chief Justice David Maraga has faulted the government for prioritising sending its youth for job opportunities abroad while wasting resources that could change the state of joblessness in the country.
Maraga has spoken at a moment when President William has confirmed that over 430,000 Kenyans have secured employment abroad in the last two and a half years through a government-led labour mobility initiative.
In recent days, Ruto has been vocal, stating that the Kazi Majuu program has been crucial in creating new opportunities for young Kenyans while ensuring their welfare overseas.

However, David Maraga has faulted the approach, even as the majority of Kenya’s young people suffer the effects of unemployment despite having academic credentials.
”A state that sends its young and brightest abroad to build other economies while spending the bulk of revenue on debt, salaries, and political self-care is not governing—it is extracting,” the United Green Movement (UG) leader took to X on Monday, November 17, 205.
Meanwhile, Maraga’s attack against the government on the Kazi Majuu program comes after the UGM chief has called upon the youth to come out in their numbers for political mentorship to occupy leadership positions ahead of the 2027 general election.
Maraga rallies the youth
In a statement shared on X on Monday, November 10, 2025, Maraga challenged the country’s young population to seize the opportunity by joining UGM and initiate change in governance by vying for different political seats in the forthcoming general election.

”You are the change you desire. Throw your name in the hat and run for a. elective post. Here is your opportunity for political mentorship and support,” Maraga shared briefly as he reminded the youth to register with UGM before the deadline on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
According to the campaign, UGM aims to nurture and empower the next generation of political leaders who can bring new energy, accountability, and inclusivity into Kenya’s governance.
Registered participants will take part in an in-person session where they will help develop a National Campaign Accountability Charter, a framework that will guide the outfit’s strategy and ensure transparency throughout the process of drumming up Maraga’s support for the country’s presidency in 2027.
