DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako warns of unstoppable wave in Malava by-election
Malava’s DAP-K parliamentary candidate, Seth Panyako, has warned his detractors to prepare for a tidal wave of change in the forthcoming by-elections.
In a statement on his Facebook page on Monday, October 13, 2025, Panyako, who described his candidature as for the Luhya nation, emphasised the significance of the mini-polls, terming them the start of a revolution by the community.
“The Malava by-election is more than a vote; it’s a revolution. I’m not just a DAP-K candidate, but a representative of the Luhya Nation. Doubters beware—you’ll be overtaken by the unstoppable wave beginning in Malava.
The Malava by-election has garnered significant interest from Kenya’s politicians, setting the stage for a bruising political battle triggered by the death of the previous MP, Malulu Injendi, in February 2025.
Ahead of the polls, opposition leaders from Western Kenya have criticised the heavy presence of government officials, led by President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, accusing them of planning to interfere with the process and impose leaders on the people.

Facing UDA
Panyako is set to face off against David Ndakwa of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the November 27, 2025 by-elections.
In response to the opposition’s involvement in the area, the aspiring MP dismissed their influence, terming his candidacy one hinged on servant leadership.
“You can’t stop an idea whose time has come. They have come with Choppers, Money, propaganda, Lies, Pride, and harassment. But here, I come with integrity, truth, servant leadership, and humility; My people’s numbers don’t lie,” he stated.
The Nurses’ Union secretary general is seen as a frontrunner in the minipolls following his endorsement by the Western professional caucus.
Panyako also has the backing of DAP-K leaders such as Eugene Wamalwa, Mumias East MP Peter Salaysa and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya are among the leaders supporting him.
The medical practitioner will be making his third stab for the seat after he unsuccessfully contested it in 2017 and 2022.
His bid is, however, set for an ice test with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Kakamega County chapter pledged support to the former MCA and UDA candidate, Ndakwa.
