Cherargei demands Muturi’s arrest after viral clash with voter in Siakago

By , November 27, 2025

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has come out to call for the arrest and apprehension of former Attorney General Justin Muturi over the confrontation he had with a voter at the Siakago Social Hall polling station.

In a statement shared on his socials on Thursday, November 27, 2025, Cherargei called for immediate action against the former Attorney General after he went overboard and roughed up a voter.

According to Cherargei, Muturi’s act was an election malpractice since he caused disruption at a polling station.

“JB Muturi should be arrested immediately for aggravated assault and election malpractice for attacking an innocent voter and causing disruption at the Siakago polling station.”

He went on with his harsh criticism of Muturi, saying that this is one of the early signs of the imminent defeat of the candidate being fronted by the United Opposition, Newton Kariuki.

According to him, they have now decided to resort to desperate measures after knowing that they can’t make it.

“These are signs that their disunited opposition candidate is losing the Mbeere North constituency by-elections 2025,” Cherargei stated.

He called upon the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) to take action on Muturi by removing him from the advocates’ register since it is embarrassing for a legal counsel to engage in such unlawful activities.

According to Cherargei, the act by Muturi confirms that indeed he was incompetent, just as the President had stated when he fired him as Attorney General and subsequently as a Cabinet Minister, saying that this act vindicates it.

“The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) should IMMEDIATELY remove him from the roll of advocates. It’s embarrassing that this is a former Attorney General of Kenya, a former Speaker of the National Assembly, a former judicial officer, and a former Member of Parliament. What a shame, and this confirms that he was truly incompetent.”

Confrontation

This comes after Justin Muturi lost his cool at the Siakago polling station after Chinga Ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Kiruga Thuku violated polling station rules by donning United Democratic Alliance (UDA) attire while acting as an observer for his party’s candidate Leonard Wamauthende, something which is against the law.

Muturi, in the company of his supporters, went straight to the MCA, and drove him out of the polling station, telling him to follow the law.

While chasing him away, a voter seemed to disagree with him and engaged him in a verbal altercation, forcing Muturi to become furious and catch him by the collar. With it almost turning physical were it not for the people around Muturi who intervened, cooling the situation while at the same time roughing up the said voter but releasing him later.

Muturi defended his earlier move to kick out the Chinga MCA, saying that he had reported the incident to the presiding officer, who failed to act, forcing him to take it upon himself.
