CCK candidate Duncan Mbui claims widespread bribery in Mbeere North by-elections
By Brian Malila, November 27, 2025Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party candidate in the Mbeere North by-election, Duncan Mbui, has raised serious allegations of widespread voter bribery in the constituency.
Speaking to the press moments after casting his vote at Kiathambu Primary School in Evurore Ward on November 27, 2025, Mbui claimed that both UDA and the Democratic Party (DP) were engaging in illegal activities to influence voters.
Mbui alleged that high-end, unmarked vehicles had been strategically stationed across various parts of Evurore Ward, with individuals inside reportedly giving out money and packets of unga to unsuspecting voters.
“There is a lot of voter bribery happening today. I do not see this election being free and fair,” Mbui said.
He added that several vehicles were roaming different roads in Mbeere North, allegedly distributing cash and foodstuffs to lure voters.
According to him, many of the vehicles involved in the bribery scheme had deliberately removed their number plates, making it difficult to identify the culprits.
Mbui urged residents not to be swayed by handouts, insisting that the future of Mbeere North was far more valuable than temporary gifts meant to manipulate their decision.
He encouraged voters to uphold integrity by making independent choices that reflect their hopes and aspirations for better leadership and development.
Meanwhile, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi struck a contrasting tone after casting his vote at Kanyuambora Primary School.
Muturi expressed his satisfaction with how the voting exercise was progressing, describing it as smooth and well-organised.
“I am impressed with how the voting exercise is going on. It took me about a minute to cast my vote,” Muturi told journalists.
He appealed to residents of Mbeere North to come out in large numbers and exercise their democratic right peacefully, emphasising that every vote counts.
