Wiper Patriotic Front party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has urged Kenyans to stop addressing the United Opposition leaders as politicians.

Speaking on Sunday, December 7, 2025, during a church service and thanksgiving at Dominion City Church in Kasarani, Nairobi County, Kalonzo argued that the name ‘politician’ has lost its meaning and is currently associated with people with a tainted reputation.

The former vice president now wants Kenyans to start addressing them as “Viongozi” (leaders).

Kalonzo was explaining how the church is regrouping ahead of the 2027 general election, arguing that it had been misled during the last 2022 polls.

Why not a politician?

While noting that the will of God would reign supreme when Kenyans take to the ballot, Kalonzo noted that the united opposition political leaders will be there, but clarified why he doesn’t like being referred to as a politician.

“The church stands strong, and we will be there as political leaders. I don’t like the word politician; please call us viongozi tu. Kwa sababu politicians, ndugu Riggy G, inasemekana ni watu wa kupumbaza pumbaza wananchi tu. Now I say, like, we have this programme, mtasema haya, the church isimame hapa, politicians pale…hapana. We want you to know that some of us are believers,” Kalonzo said.

“It is a beautiful Sunday, and I thank God for the opportunity to join the Sunday service at Christ Dominion Ministries in Kasarani, Nairobi. I warmly acknowledge the congregation and the church leadership, under the gracious hosting of Apostle Jonathan Kitavi,” Kalonzo wrote on his official X account.

“This sanctuary is truly uplifting, and my colleagues, including the Second Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, H.E. Rev. Dorcas Rigathi, Hon. Mithika Linturi, Hon. Jayne Kihara, Hon. Augustin Mwafrika, Hon. James Gakuya, Wiper Patriotic Front Executive Director Benson Milai, Wakili Ndegwa Njiru, and area MCA Hon.
