Caleb Amisi to Ruto: Governor Lusaka will not deliver even one vote from Western to you

By , January 7, 2026

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has lashed out at Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka following his declaration that the Western region is part of the broad-based government and will support President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, Amisi argued that if the president expects support from the Western region in the 2027 General Election, he must first deliver on the promises he made to the region while campaigning ahead of the 2022 polls.

Amisi also took issue with Lusaka’s push to rally the region behind President Ruto’s re-election. He questioned Lusaka’s credibility and capacity to mobilise the Western region, despite the Bungoma governor declaring himself the president’s Western region coordinator.

According to Amisi, Lusaka lacks the goodwill and capacity needed to marshal meaningful support from the region for President Ruto’s second term.

“Dear Ruto, a retiring, boring, lazy Lusaka will not deliver even one vote from the western to you. What will make you get at least some votes is to deliver what you promised the region during your campaign. Tuko kwa kipindi cha lala salama!” Amisi stated.

His remarks come in the wake of a meeting held in Bungoma and chaired by Governor Lusaka, during which the governor announced that he had been selected to serve as President Ruto’s coordinator in the Western region. The meeting was largely attended by leaders aligned with the broad-based government.

Savula ditching DAP-K

During the same forum, Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula announced his decision to ditch his party, the Democratic Action Party–Kenya (DAP-K), where he had been serving as one of the deputy party leaders, and instead join the broad-based government.

Savula stated that he would now deputise Lusaka in their efforts to ensure that President Ruto secures significant support from the Western region in the 2027 General Election.

He defended his decision to leave DAP-K, which is led by Eugene Wamalwa, explaining that he wanted to align politically with his boss, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, a member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), which is part of the broader broad-based formation.
