Caleb Amisi: I don’t know what’s going on in ODM after removal from party WhatsApp group
By Emmanuel Rono, June 10, 2026Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has claimed that he has been sidelined within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), revealing that he was removed from the party’s WhatsApp group and is no longer informed about its activities and meetings.
Speaking during an interview with a local station on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Amisi said he has been left in the dark about the party’s affairs after being removed from the communication platform by ODM’s Junet Mohamed.
“Mambo sijui. Unajua walitufungia mlango. I am not even in the WhatsApp group of members of ODM,” Amisi said.
“I was removed by Junet. I don’t know why he selected me.”
According to Amisi, he is the only member removed from the group, saying other ODM leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, remain members of the group.
Why the removal
Asked why he thought he had been singled out, the MP jokingly replied:
“I think I was making too much noise. I was causing chaos.”He added: “I’m the most lethal person. You know, it’s not about shouting. I can just say one sentence that can cause chaos.”
The legislator said he has been left unaware of party meetings and decisions despite his continued monthly financial contributions to ODM.
“I’ve been kept in the dark. I don’t know when they have meetings. But you know, I pay, because every month I’m deducted twenty thousand from my payslip,” he said.
Amisi further noted that the deductions help fund ODM activities, including the party’s ongoing rallies across the country.
“All these activities they are doing, Kisumu rally, that’s my money,” he said.
Removal from party’s leadership
Amisi had also accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) of sidelining him through a “coup” after he was removed as the party’s Deputy Organising Secretary via a WhatsApp message.
Amisi made the claim during a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday, February 12, 2026, alongside Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and other ODM members.
Sifuna had recently faced his own removal as secretary general, which he described as illegal and unconstitutional.
“I am the second casualty of this coup. I was removed as the Deputy Organising Secretary via a WhatsApp message,” Amisi said.
He said the move violated the ODM constitution, which requires the National Executive Committee (NEC) to pass a resolution before removing any NEC member.
“You know very well that our party constitution, to remove a NEC member, it must be a resolution of the NEC. I was removed even before the NEC met,” he added.
Amisi highlighted his record in the party, noting that he has been elected twice as an MP on an ODM ticket from a region that has historically been hostile to the party.
“I’m an elected member of parliament on ODM ticket twice from a very volatile, extremely non-ODM zone. From Westlands to the border of Malaba, the only member of parliament on ODM is Caleb Amisi,” he said.
