Babu Owino visits Opoda Farm, presents Bible to Mama Ida

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 made an emotional visit to Opoda Farm and Kang’o ka Jaramogi, two places he described as deeply symbolic to Kenya’s political history and the Odinga family legacy.

The MP said he travelled there to pay his respects, honour Mama Ida Odinga, and reflect on the memory of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, whose influence continues to shape the country’s political story.

Speaking through an X post posted on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Babu Owino said his journey to the two homesteads carried a sense of reverence and connection to Kenya’s history.

“Today, I went to Opoda and Kang’o ka Jaramogi, places steeped in legacy and honour,” he wrote

Owino said he met Mama Ida during the visit and presented her with a Bible, a gesture he framed as a symbol of spiritual strength during a difficult period for the family.

“With deep respect, I presented Mama Ida Odinga with a Holy Bible, a sacred compass to illuminate her path, strengthen her spirit and a wellspring of light for every bend in her journey,” the statement reads

The MP explained that he also carried with him traditional offerings as an additional sign of respect for the Odinga family. In many Kenyan cultures, such gestures are used to honour elders and show solidarity.

“In the same spirit of reverence, I offered bulls as a symbol of respect and a timeless gesture of honour,” the statement reads

Babu Owino concluded his message by paying tribute to Raila Odinga, affectionately referred to by supporters as Baba. His heartfelt reflection captured the essence of a leader who has played a central role in shaping national politics.

“May Baba’s soul rest in Peace,” the statement reads
