Babu Owino explains why goons’ threat would not stop Linda Mwananchi Kisumu rally

By , April 12, 2026

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has vowed that their Linda Mwananchi Kisumu rally will take place with or without goons’ interference.

While speaking during an interview on Herman Manyora’s podcast aired on Sunday, April 12, 2026, the outspoken MP stated that they must speak to Kisumu residents despite what is happening to their members.

He maintained that holding a rally in Kisumu is vital in ensuring Linda Mwananchi‘s message is passed to every part of the country.

Babu Owino continued to express his disappointment over the attack on Godfrey Osotsi, who was attacked despite being on a personal engagement and not politics, saying that this will not stop them and that they must popularise their political activities in the lakeside city.

He added that they will not be intimidated by goons threatening to attack them.

“We will go to Kisumu; we need to talk to every Kenyan in this country. Each Kenyan has a right to move anywhere. Osotsi was attacked; he was not holding a rally, so what’s the difference between holding a rally and not holding a rally?” the lawmaker posed.

“If you hold a rally you are attacked; if you don’t, the same happens to you,” he added.

Their move to conduct a political rally in Kisumu came after Osotsi’s attack.

According to James Orengo, this will be one of the historic and significant rallies since it will culminate the first round of their Linda Mwananchi rallies as they embark on the last phase before announcing their next course of action in preparation for 2027.

The Kisumu rally will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, after the Nakuru chapter, which Osotsi, despite being injured and slowly recuperating, has vowed that he must attend.

Restoring Linda Mwananchi as party

This also comes at a time when the Linda Mwananchi movement, which is a faction carved out of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and is mainly composed of rebels within the Orange party, has hinted at plans to register the outfit as a party.

Godfrey Osotsi, days before being injured, while speaking during an interview on a local radio station, opened up on plans to transform the Linda Mwananchi movement into a fully fledged political party that will field candidates from the presidency and other elective seats across the country.

He also confided in plans of teaming up with the United Opposition, stating that as long as they all agree that the current regime should be a “wantam” government, their paths will soon meet to realise their aspirations.
