Any new voter in Kisii will be given a bottle of soda- Dagorreti North MP Simba Arati says
Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Simba Arati on Sunday, October 10 said that anyone within Kisii County who registers as a new voter will be given a bottle of soda.
The announcement that is aimed at having as many voters as possible within Kisii County is seen as a move to lure people into his political team.
Arati who has served as an MP for two terms is currently eyeing the Kisii County governorship seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
The politician has been making rounds in the company of Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka of Ford Kenya Party as they open up ODM offices within the county.
On Sunday, the two politicians alongside Bonchari MP Pavel Oimeke opened up an office within Bonchari.
“As from next week, anyone who registers as a new voter or anyone with a voter’s card will be passing through here and get a bottle of soda,” said the politician who had already announced that he will be quitting city politics.
This he said was a move aimed at having many people register as voters so as they can elect leaders who are able to solve their problems.
He said that he had also put people in the ODM officers who will be searching the name of a registered voter and as soon as they get that one is registered, they will be gifted a soda.
The politician who kicked off his career as a nominated councillor is not the first to make such an announcement.
Last week, South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro said that he will only be issuing bursaries to people who are registered as voters.
Osoro said that while he was accompanied by Deputy President William Ruto in South Mugirango.
Politicians are fond of luring members of the public whenever registration of voters is being conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
