Amisi slams Ruto for using State projects to sway Malava voters
By Kiprono Keileb, October 30, 2025Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has called out President William Ruto for using government resources to influence voters in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election, warning that such actions undermine democracy and betray the legacy of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Through a post on X posted on Thursday, October 30, 2025, Amisi sharply criticised the President for commissioning development projects in the constituency just weeks before the by-election. He argued that launching new government projects in politically sensitive areas ahead of polls amounts to state interference in the electoral process.
“President, launching government projects in a constituency where a by-election is to be held in a month amounts to use of public office to influence voters,” Amisi said. He warned that the outcome of the by-election could face legal challenges, hinting at a possible court battle if the exercise is deemed compromised. “The results shall be contested in court!” he stated.

The legislator went on to urge respect for democratic principles, saying that any genuine effort to protect Raila Odinga’s political legacy must include fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all candidates.
“Let’s respect the tenets of democracy if indeed we mean well for Mzee Raila’s legacy,” he said.
Amisi also accused President Ruto of double standards, claiming that the government’s actions in Bondo contradicted its public stance on democracy and political tolerance.
“Otherwise, what you showed in Bondo would be pure hypocrisy!” he added.
His remarks come amid growing political tension in Malava as the by-election draws closer. The seat fell vacant following a successful petition that nullified the 2022 results. The constituency has since become a key political battleground between Kenya Kwanza and the opposition coalition, with both sides seeking to use the by-election to gauge their strength on the ground.
