Kenyan politics took a sharp turn as Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi called on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to act decisively against Members of Parliament who are abandoning the party.

Speaking in a statement shared on X posted on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, Amisi expressed concern over legislators who, in his view, have lost faith in the party that propelled them to Parliament.

“These leaders no longer believe in the party that brought them to parliament; the UDA party machinery must move with speed and commence the process of their removal from the party membership list and subsequently relieve them of their positions in parliament,” Amisi said.

Amisi emphasised the urgency of the matter, urging the party to enforce disciplinary measures swiftly. He warned that failure to act could undermine the party’s integrity and its ability to lead the nation effectively.

“It is so written,” he added, signalling a sense of finality and authority in his call for action.

He also framed the move as part of a broader vision for Kenya’s political future, insisting that corrective action was necessary for the country’s progress. “Kenya needs a renaissance!” Amisi concluded, calling for a rejuvenation of political principles and accountability among elected leaders.

UDA Politicians on ODM caps

Amisi’s remarks come at a moment of heightened scrutiny within UDA, as several lawmakers have publicly aligned themselves with ODM. Notably, on 8 November 2025, during a women’s empowerment fund drive in Ugunja Constituency, senior UDA‑aligned politicians were seen wearing Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) caps, a move that seems not to sit right with Caleb Amisi.

Among those photographed in ODM colours were National Assembly and Senate Majority leaders Kimani Ichung’wah and Aaron Cheruiyot, respectively. Their appearance in ODM apparel is a sign of a push for a broad-based government.

With the by‑election in Ugunja on the horizon, Amisi’s call for swift disciplinary action within UDA takes on immediate relevance.
