By , March 3, 2021

Preparations for Kiamokama ward by-election in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency in Kisii County to be held on Thursday have been finalized, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ( IEBC) Returning Officer (RO) Mark Manco has said.

Manco said the ward has 22 polling stations and election materials have been ferried to the stations under tight security ahead of the mini polls.

Briefing the press yesterday at  Nyamagesa Vocational Training Centre tallying centre, the RO said  11 candidates had been cleared by the Commission, adding the area has 10,853 registered voters.

“The candidates conducted the campaigns peacefully. The Commission has put measures in place to ensure the exercise is free and fair,” Manco said.

He said the commission will use Kenya Integrated Management System  (KIEMS) to identify voters, stressing security has been beefed up at the polling stations and tallying centres.

The RO said the stations will be opened at 6.am and close at 5.p.m, topping those only voters who will be on the queue will be allowed to vote and added no transmission will be done from the polling stations to the tallying centre.
